About DME
Symptoms
As with all macular diseases, the main symptom of DME is the loss of central vision (the ability to see things straight ahead). However, you may also notice changes in your colour vision and fine detail.
The symptoms of DME are very similar to those of other macular diseases. The key differentiator is whether you also have diabetes. DME symptoms can develop slowly, yet early detection is key. Therefore, if you are diabetic, you will have regular eye checks, and it is important to notify your doctor if you notice any of the following.1,2
If you notice any changes in your vision, consult a specialist immediately.
