Living with wet AMD
Living with wet AMD
Macular degeneration can have a profound effect on your life; you could pass by someone you know without even noticing them, and it can affect your ability to drive. This can severely impact your feelings of freedom and increase social isolation. These changes can seriously impact your quality of life, and AMD is a risk factor for depression.1
It may help you to hear from other people who have been living with this disease to hear their stories and learn how they are able to live their lives to the fullest. Consider joining a local support group that can provide you with more personal support.
- The Macular Society run local support groups to help you and your family navigate your disease and offer a helpline if you need further advice.
- The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) also offer a helpline for advice and resources, and is a great place to hear other people's journeys with sight loss.
