About wet age-related macular degeneration

Symptoms

The symptoms of wet AMD generally appear rapidly, with the most common symptoms impacting your central vision.1

Wet AMD is painless and won't alter the appearance of your eyes, but will typically present as a blurred or distorted area in the middle of your vision, which can get progressively worse.

Other symptoms can include:1-3

  • Straight lines appearing wavy or bent
  • Bright lights causing discomfort
  • Seeing things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Colours appearing faded
  • Words appearing blurry
