Medications

Treatment for acromegaly may include medications for several reasons including:1-3

  • If surgery is not possible
  • To shrink a large tumour before surgery
  • If growth hormone levels are still high after surgery

There are 3 main drug therapies available, and your doctor will discuss which is best for you.4 They will also monitor your treatment to make sure your symptoms are improving and that you are not experiencing too many side effects.
