Treatment for acromegaly may include medications for several reasons including:^1-3

• If surgery is not possible
• To shrink a large tumour before surgery
• If growth hormone levels are still high after surgery

There are 3 main drug therapies available, and your doctor will discuss which is best for you.⁴ They will also monitor your treatment to make sure your symptoms are improving and that you are not experiencing too many side effects.
