Living with asthma

Helping others to understand my asthma

Once you have control of your asthma and are aware of how it influences your life, it can help to share this information with others.

Everyday life involves interacting with the people around you, and the more you can help them to understand your experiences with asthma, the more they can help to accommodate you.

It’s good to let the people around you know what you are going through, they will want to support you along the way.

This is true for many of the experiences we have mentioned previously. Regarding work or other situations, you are always advised to warn your host or boss about potential asthma triggers.

How much information you share is up to you; you can keep things impersonal by sharing leaflets from the doctor, but often it is useful to share elements of your action plan, so others are aware of your personal triggers and adjustments.
